Hi there
Just joined Tribe as i loved the fact that there was a tribe purely devoted to Bikram. I have been practising bikrams method for just over two weeks now and LOVE it! unfortunately though I pushed myself a little too hard at yesterdays class and subsequently pulled my upper back and neck muscles, very painful!! I have been advised by 'non bikramers' not to go back for a while but I am certain I should just push on through it...Is it common to pull muscles when learning Bikram? How long should i wait before I return or shall i jump right back onto that horse today! Any suggestions much appreciated

I've done this and I've been practicing Bikram off and on for about 2 years. Here's my take on it that works for me...
Listen to your body. Be gentle, but be disciplined. If you are hurt in an area of your body, do not continue to reinjur or damage it. Yes, go to yoga- feel the energy and do the poses that "do not" hurt until you are better. Even if you spend more time lying down on the mat than in poses, you will benefit from the participation. -

Talk to the instructors, too.
What Dee says is sage, and also ask the instructors. If you are not getting better within 3 days, you need to see an orthopedist.
I sprained my neck last year (not from yoga), and am still experiencing pain. Sometimes I cannot go to yoga, but when I do, I lift my shoulders to protect my neck (elevating the shoulders helps). There are poses I can do, and ones I can't do when I'm experiencing a flare-up.
Be gentle with yourself.
